How Does Your Social Media Feed Make You Feel?

Let’s talk about some of the things that may make you feel that you are not enough.  One of my top influencers in how I feel is actually my feeds on all of my social media accounts.  Sometimes, those social media feeds can be encouraging, sometimes they can be discouraging, sometimes they can cause complete anger.  There is sooooo much out there that can impact your thoughts, your beliefs and your habits.  Your life becomes infiltrated with thoughts and ideas that you can try your hardest to separate yourself from, but the truth is that these things are kind of hard to “unsee”.

Trust me when I say, not everything that glitters is gold.  I’ve recently gone through personal traumas that were unfortunately brought on by engaging on social media and believing everything that I saw would be good for me.  You can trust a feed and someone’s words so much that you don’t do your own research prior to taking actions on something that may change your life.  A key lesson I’ve learned is to find other sources that also use that particular person, service or product that you’ve seen on social media.  The more resources that have experienced this person, service or product, the better!

A new baby is life changing!  The once in a lifetime experience with that baby is life changing.  As a postpartum doula, my job is not to tell you how to do life with your new baby.  My job is to support you and to provide resources that teach you how to make your own informed decisions and strategies to best protect your mental health.  There are many things in your life outside of being a parent that will influence how you begin to make decisions.  Don’t let social media be your only resource.

Be easy on yourself, decisions will be made, mistakes will happen.  Find your village of support and like-minded individuals so that you can flourish, no matter what is thrown on your social media feeds.
